The new wardrobe

I have challenged myself to create a new work wardrobe and not buy anything new or second hand

Sorry I have not been active on here for some days. I am currently using most of my free time on my major embroidery project for the Hand and Lock The Prize. As I am doing all the embroidery by hand it is taking longer than if it was by machine.

I have also started a body transformation process. I am trying to loose weight and get my body into a less squishy shape. This has meant that the clothes that I planned on making need to be changed. It also means that I am quickly running out of clothes that fit. I am down to one pair of trousers that still stay up without too many issues. In work I carry around my phone, two work devices and sometimes a walkie talkie if I am first aid or floor cover. With one pair of trousers it is no longer safe to wear as they are very close to going south. I don’t fancy being called into the office for exposure lol.

Today I am going to start on a pair of the Safiya trousers from the Tilly and the buttons MAKE it Simple book. This book is full of some really good basic wardrobe staples.

As I didn’t want to cut out the pattern from the ones provided, I copied them into spare paper using some sheets of carbon paper, my pattern wheel, a ruler and a pencil. It didn’t take long and the pieces are now cut out ready for Thursday.

I ordered some georgette fabric from Whaley’s of Bradford, https://www.whaleys-bradford.ltd.uk. This company is one of the only online fabric shops I trust. I pre-washed the fabric and it’s now dry and folded ready to be turned into some fabulous trousers.

I have also started on the Bernadette Banner pirate shirt. I cut all the pieces out last night and today I put in the sleeves. It’s huge!!!!. Im going to have to put some smocking into it to reduce the width. The sleeves are massive. It’s fabulous. I was going to wear it to work but I think I’m going to keep this for non work days.

Fair do’s to my sewing machine. I don’t know how old it is but I bought it for £20 off Facebook marketplace place.

I’m in work tomorrow so my next chance of seeing is Thursday.

Can’t wait!!!
